One day Haddie, Liz, and I decided to take a tour of the Art Museum on campus. It is free for students and they had a nice little gift shop. I was amazed at how most of the artwork was photos. I am a big fan of photography and it was interesting to see the different shots of highways, and the Andy Warhol exhibit was my favorite. The museum has an entire room devoted to black and white photos of Andy Warhol and his friends. They have shots of him in his studio shooting movies and photo shoots, with parties and other things. I was happy we went to see the museum because I liked the photography exhibits, I am excited to see what their new exhibits are now.
ReplyDeleteI went and toured the art museum on my own. I loved how they had more than just paintings and drawings. I really liked the jewelry and photographs. They were all so unique and gave me really good ideas. I liked how professional looking it was. I was expecting it to just be a bunch of pictures on a wall but it looked like an actual art gallery. I was surprised they had a gift shop. They had a lot of cool jewelry pieces and such in there. This may sound kind of dumb but I was surprised that all of the people that work there are all artists themselves. For some reason that never occurred to me. I just thought they did it because they thought art was interesting or something like that. I also really enjoyed that big wooden piece that covered the entire wall. It reminded me of the stuff I do with cardboard and I thought it was really interesting.
ReplyDeleteEarlier in the semester I went to the Cornell Fine Arts Museum’s exhibit "It's Always Rock and Roll: The Work of Photojournalist Janet Macoska." That was the second time I had been to the CFAM, and it was more enjoyable than the first. The first time I went with my 11th grade Portfolio class to view Andy Warhol’s work, and I had to pay for admittance. This time I had free admittance because I am a Rollins student! The CFAM is a beautiful museum, it is great for viewing artist’s work. The work of Macoska was wonderful, especially in black and white photographs because it seems like it is easier to show a subjects expression. The use of black and white instead of color makes the viewer pay more attention to detail instead of being bombarded by color which can take away from the feeling of the subject in the photograph.
